Legend of Gaoping Nanmu Forest

During the Song Dynasty, Dazu Gaoping was the main post station for the little chuandong ancient road to enter Changzhou. It is said that Zhao Zhifeng once hid Buddhist scriptures in Nanmu Forest, which were warm in winter and cool in summer, with a pleasant fragrance. Nanmu is hard and resistant to decay, and there has been a saying since ancient times that 'water cannot soak, ants cannot burrow'. Modern experiments have shown that the golden nanmu wood is resistant to the erosion of wood fungi and termites, and has strong resistance to the erosion of marine drilling animals. Therefore, the royal furniture bookcases and bookshelves are made of golden nanmu wood. In modern times, extremely valuable books and souvenirs are also made of golden nanmu wood boxes whenever conditions permit. Zhao Zhifeng naturally preserves scriptures here.
